The artwork

Listeners. Felt it was about time to give you another update.

First of all, I would like to share with you the finished album cover made by the artist KAPE. I think it’s just awesome! Mysterious, abstract, dark and it fits with my new music like a fist in a glove.

Regarding the release date. I was thinking about releasing the album in spring at first BUT now I’m thinking about an autumn release. And why is that? Well, this album is simply not a spring/summer album. This record is the ”debby downer” of my catalogue and therefore no sane person would want to listen to it while relaxing in the sun outside. It’s like letting Bon Iver play at your wedding or watching a Mikael Haneke-movie while you’re happy. You just would not want that. And if I release it in autumn I’ll have a lot of time to really polish it and maybe ad a song or two cause there were only nine songs which made the cut. I originally had 16 (!) full songs but the self-critical perfectionist in me (which are getting more and more picky the higher I climb in my career) felt that there were only nine of them that qualified. 5 years ago maybe I would have chosen to release them all but that’s not the cause now.

So, I’m thinking about adding at least one song and maybe drop another song from the album before the release!

A couple of finished song titles from the record, that I also would want to share with you are: Black Star, Fragments, The Flood and Signs.

So, to conclude everything. Autumn-release date and most likely another single before that! As I said before, I can’t wait for you to hear all these songs. Some of the best pieces I’ve ever made are on this album. I think it’s the best album I’ve made since my debut. And there also are some similarities actually as I think I’ve mentioned before. It’s piano-focused, downscaled and intimate like EMOTIONS but it’s more mysterious, different and ominous. But this doesn’t mean I left out the dynamics. There a lot of power and drama in the mix as well!

That’s all for now. Stay tuned and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Peace

Tomas

Good news, bad news

Listeners! Just wanted to let you all know that my new single ’Somewhere” is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and (about) 24 other digital music-sites on the internet! I hope you will enjoy it!

TGSomewhere

I also have some good news AND (unfortunately) some bad news regarding my upcoming 4th album… The bad news is that the record will be delayed until 2019. Things took a bit longer than I predicted and I’ve also had some personal matters to handle. Therefore I won’t be able to have the album ready to be out this year. It’s as simple as that.

The GOOD news is… that it will be worth the wait. Some of this material is the best I’ve ever made. I’m so excited. I simply can’t wait for you to hear these pieces!

About half of the songs are recorded and the artwork (amazing) is completed. I will reveal it together with the album-title later on. In the meantime, enjoy ”Somewhere”, try to live in the present and enjoy the colors and the fresh late autumn-air outside. Take breaks from your mobile-screens and unsocial media. And be kind to yourselves, and eachother.

Peace,

Tomas

New single coming!

Fans! Just want to let you all know that I have a new single coming your way soon!

The song is called Somewhere (I shortly mentioned the song earlier here) and was the 3rd (I think…) song I made during the creation process of my upcoming 4th album. The song was recorded in Johan Arvelis studio in Nordanälden based in the municipality of Krokom, Jämtland County, Sweden.

Arveli is a musician, songwriter and producer who has worked with the likes of american countryartist Doug Seegers, the award winning singer/songwriter Annika Norlin (Hello Saferide, Säkert!) and young swedish americana star Ellen Sundberg, among others. He is also quite possibly the biggest Dave Grohl-fan in the world (no joke!)

StudioThe strings are played by Katarina Åhlén (Cello) and Peter Roos (Violin) both of whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with before.

I’m not gonna reveal anything about the actual song. What’s the point in that? The only thing I know is that I’m excited for you to hear it, as well as the other songs I have on the album!

Stay tuned and have I nice evening

Tomas

Update on new album

Clefs

My dear fans!

Just wanted to let you all know that I have about 7 songs more or less done for my upcoming 4th full length album. The material is a lot darker, mysterious and more piano-focused than my latest outing. There won’t be more than maybe 2 songs with other instruments this time. I’ve also experimented with some different time signatures and rhythms I’m not used to. I’ve listened to a lot of progressive rock lately as well as some oriental music that I think has unconsciously inspired me in doing that. There are some really cool and dramatic rhythmic parts that I love to play and that I look a lot forward to perform live for the first time.

The release date and album-name are still not decided but I can share with you a few tentative song titles like Black Star, Ghosts, The Fire and Fragments.

I also think I have decided which artist I would like to collaborate with this time for the artwork. I really love his paintings! And I also think I know which song I will choose to release as the first single from the album. More on that in the future.

That’s all for now! I hope you’ve had a pleasant Easter break

See you

Tomas

Looking back, moving forward

Roots

My dear fans! I know It’s been awhile since I gave you any updates. I’m not dead! At least not creatively. Not at all. Actually, I already have material for (almost) a full new album.

The direction I’ve taken this time is that I’ve been trying to go back to when I first started composing music. If you listen to EMOTIONS (which I still think has some of the best pieces I’ve ever made) there’s some elements that I didn’t know actually what I was doing when I made them. And there’s some beauty to that. I had no idea at the time that one day other people and music critics would be able to hear those songs. When your career moves step by step, you start to listen more to others, you become more selfcritical and you start to think more about what you are doing. At least, that’s how it works for me!

So, I’ve tried to go back to that time of my life when I really weren’t writing for anybody but to satisfy myself creatively. But that of course doesn’t mean you won’t be able to hear these songs. And I don’t want to repeat myself to much (who wants to do that?). I don’t want to make EMOTIONS Part 2. I have a lot larger color palette now than I had back then, that I of course will make us of. But I’ve tried to put more soul and heart and less ”brain” into the music than I’ve done lately. I need to find the joy and playfulness I had when I started out. I think that’s very important in whatever you are doing. The other thing I can tell you is that the new album will be dark. My darkest yet. And I am happy with the material I have so far. I can also reveal that one of the songs is called ”Somewhere” and will soon make its first live debut!

Blured notes

The albumtitle, releasedate etc. are not decided yet. There are still many things left to do. Many puzzle pieces to place. And things can change back and fourth. As always! So I appreciate your patience. But things are really happening again and it feels great!

Stay tuned folks!

Tomas
